Our Strong Alliance
The global effort to protect marine environments requires both comprehensive strategy and focused action. 71blue & Fish Free February (FFF) are two charities who have decided to join their efforts to trigger a systemic change; 71blue was established as an Ocean Impact Accelerator to deliver broad, long-term conservation results by empowering local communities and global partners. Fish Free February was born instead from one of the many challenges threatening our blue planet and thus from a focused, urgent conviction: the way we eat has a direct, devastating impact on marine life. FFF’s core mission mobilises public awareness around sustainable food consumption by challenging individuals to make a simple, powerful commitment: abstaining from seafood throughout February. We believe that by creating a unified platform, where focused efforts meet communities, we can leverage our efforts and create compelling opportunities for collective conservation action.
What is the programme?
The Generation Fish Free February program mobilises university students or young professionals, transforming them into influential leaders for marine conservation and sustainability. Our mission is to reduce seafood consumption and foster the transition to sustainable fishing methods. By challenging participants to eliminate seafood from their diet throughout February, we create a powerful spotlight that successfully engages a wider public with critical marine issues.
What would you do as part of the Programme?
As Young Ambassador, you will serve as the voice of marine sustainability for your university and community. You will be a vital source of insights and ideas, helping us shape the direction of the Generation Fish Free February movement.
Together, we will work to amplify the message of sustainable food choices and spread the word about the Fish Free February campaign within your networks. This program offers the unique opportunity to collaborate on actionable projects alongside conservation experts and NGOs, helping to redefine the relationship between consumption and ocean health.
